Wouldn’t it be amazing if there was a space you could go to and find all the answers to your questions about shotgun shooting? Something more reliable than AI, more personalized and personable, easy to understand and apply? Great news! Syren USA has launched a phenomenal new series on YouTube and across social media to give you exactly all of that and more.
The internet has no shortage of videos for shotgun shooters; however, it does seriously lack high-quality information for new shooters or refresher information for seasoned shooters that may have forgotten some of the basics. Grace Callahan and I are creating hours and hours of content just for you.
Syren USA Now on YouTube
The Syren USA channel will be available through YouTube and features tips, techniques and tried-and-true processes to assist shooters of all abilities, especially the beginner shooter. Our very first episode unpacks some of the key basics to the fundamentals such as mount, stance, eye dominance and gun fit.
Most people don’t realize the enormous amount of geometry and physics they face on a clay field or even on a hunt field for that matter. Did you know that for every inch you move the muzzle that equates to 8-to-10 inches of movement 30 yards out in the field? Those numbers are huge. Did you know that those numbers translate back to the shooter in their gun fits, mounts and stances? If you are an 1/8-inch off in your cheek weld to the comb, you’re going to be about a foot off the bird.
If you mount the buttstock of the gun outside of the pocket in your shoulder, you will consistently shoot to the left or the right of your target, depending on which side you shoot from, without realizing why. Remember, you only have to be off a little bit at the shooter’s stance to miss big out at the bird.
In our opening episode, “Sporting Clays 101,” Grace shows us exactly how to correctly get into your gun with consistency. She also demonstrates a great hack to make sure you are getting your stance correct, especially if you’re shooting by yourself. We each show you our favorite methods to determining eye dominance and, no, it doesn’t involve making a triangle with your hands.
We are very excited for our second episode as we dive into different shooting methods. It’s important to make sure you have multiple shooting methods in your toolbox. This allows you to tackle more complex or technical birds. For instance, did you know that “Swing Through” is a great method to use when faced with a true pair? It allows a shooter to crush the first bird sooner, leaving more time to deal with the second bird and preventing those anxiety-driven, wild swings resulting in a miss.
By liking and subscribing, you will receive the latest episode and have instant access to incredible instruction right at your fingertips. We are planning on releasing a new episode every month with each episode about 10-to-15 minutes in length, making it very digestible and easy to fit in your schedule.
And There’s More … “Tuesday Tips”
Is your schedule just way too hectic? Do you need all that great information but in smaller, more manageable time chunks? Perfect, we got ya! Have you seen our “Tuesday Tips” segments on social media? These 2-minute nuggets are a wealth of information in quick, easy to use format. The tips have been posting since late last year, so there is already a great library of videos for you to use.

Curious about how and when to oil your gun? Not sure how to remove the ejectors on your over/under? Didn’t realize that you can shoot from a seated position while on a dove hunt?
