Began shooting: I started in the shooting sports with handgun and rifle in 2015 then began sporting clays in 2020
I was introduced to shooting sports by my dad. His passion for shooting sports and upland hunting peaked my interest. He knew that I was interested and started to take me to the indoor gun range just to see if this was something I wanted to do. This new found interest developed into daddy-daughter range days. One day my dad asked if I wanted to go shoot sporting clays. This was new for me since I had never held nor shot a shotgun yet. After the second shot, I hit my first clay bird. I kept hitting more and more. It’s hard to explain the feeling, but I really enjoyed it. I immediately fell in love with the sport after only a few times of going together. Our range days quickly transitioned into sporting clays every weekend, no matter what the weather was.
My first ever shotgun was a Syren Tempio. I was able to try it at a demo day. The Tempio fit me perfectly. I can remember the conversation with my dad discussing everything about the shotgun over lunch before we ran back to purchase it. What started out as an interest with sporting clays has now become my passion. This also drew me to upland hunting. I began hunting pheasants at the hunt club that my family belongs to. The more we hunted pheasants the more my desire to hunt other upland birds like ruffed grouse here in Michigan. They say that patience pays off and last May after a long wait I got my 12 gauge Syren Julia. I fell even more in love with not only the sport, but how amazing the Julia fits and works with me.
You can always find my dad and I walking the clays courses every Sunday, rain or shine enjoying the outdoors and sporting clays.

What’s your advice on getting new lady shooters involved?
Don’t be afraid to try something new. Find women who are in the sport and connect with them. Look for events local to you to meet like minded individuals that are interested in the sport as well. It’s always more enjoyable to have a friend, but you can always do it by yourself!
What knowledge can you share that would make ladies better shooters?
- Seek out demo days to make sure you get the best fit possible and ask the questions
- Don’t be intimidated by a 12ga
- Get involved in women’s leagues
- Take lots of photos and videos to share
- Above all enjoy the sport and have fun!
